Announcing Our Move to Cleveland, Ohio

Wood Violins is entering a new era. We’re proud to announce that Wood Violins is now headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, marking a major step forward in the evolution of the brand.
For over three decades, Wood Violins has redefined what the violin can be, through innovation, performance, and a deep connection to the artists who bring these instruments to life. That foundation remains unchanged.
What’s new is how we build on it.
Rooted in Music History
Cleveland is more than a new location—it’s part of the story. Home to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Cleveland Orchestra, and one of the most respected music education communities in the country, Cleveland sits at the intersection of classical excellence and modern performance.
It’s a city that reflects exactly what the Viper represents:
This move allows us to tap into a new level of craftsmanship, talent, and infrastructure as we continue to grow.
Built in Cleveland
With this transition, all Wood Violins PRO instruments will be handcrafted in Cleveland, Ohio.
We’re building a focused production environment designed around:
-
Small-batch, high-quality builds
-
Improved consistency and turnaround times
-
Greater control over materials and process
This is about doing things the right way—at a level our artists expect.
Leadership & Continuity
Wood Violins is now led by Kent Dockus, who steps in as CEO and owner. Kent has worked closely with founder Mark Wood for nearly a decade, both as a collaborator and as part of the broader Wood Violins and Electrify Your Strings community.
This transition is not a departure from what made Wood Violins special—it’s a continuation of it. Mark remains an active part of the brand’s creative direction and legacy, ensuring that the vision behind the Viper continues to guide its future.
For Our Artists and Community
To our artists, players, and partners—this next chapter is for you.
We’re focused on:
-
Improving production timelines
-
Expanding configuration options
-
Strengthening artist support
-
Continuing to push the boundaries of electric string performance
The goal is simple:
Build the best instruments, support performances, and grow the community that makes this all possible.
Looking Ahead
2026 marks a defining year for Wood Violins.
With a new home, a refined production approach, and a renewed focus on craftsmanship and performance, we’re building toward the future—while staying grounded in everything that got us here.
This is just the beginning.
