There's some very exciting stuff being printed about Mark Wood's "Electrify Your Strings" music eduation program and about the
rock orchestras he's helped to create at schools all over the US!Greg Cahill, Editor of STRINGS Magazine, sums it up in his Editor's Note appearing in the November 2005 issue:
"HE’S A MAN ON A MISSION. Mark Wood – electric violinist, recording artist, composer, producer, and instrument maker – has been touring the country this year in a musical caravan that is helping to establish innovative rock orchestras in public schools while providing an invigorating outlet for the next generation of string players. Wood’s enthusiasm, like his music, is boundless. Or, as writer David Templeton discovers in the rock-orchestra feature he contributes in this issue’s Young Player’s Focus section, 'Talking to Wood about kids and music is like talking to a tent evangelist about the power of faith.' And that’s what we appreciate about Wood and the public-school music-program directors who are opening up new avenues for exploration to young string students who might otherwise abandon their music."
